Exercise Series

Three simple Rebounder exercises you can do on your Mini Trampoline.

Your mini trampoline can provide a fun and a low-impact workout, which is useful to people that have joint problems such as arthritis. Rebounder exercises provide simple and advanced programs depending on your exercise endurance and of course, how in shape you are.

The first simple rebounder exercise is the Health Bounce, simply stand on the trampoline with both feet together, and your knees bent slightly, and then begin bouncing gently. This improves circulation and relieves stress.

The second simple rebounder is the Strength Bounce; you want to bend your knees slightly and then spring up and you will begin to bounce higher as you bounce back up each time. This helps strengthen your legs.

Lastly is the Aerobic Bounce, which s a gentle jogging in place. When you first begin, start with stomping rather than an actual jog. Once your legs gain strength after a few weeks, you can begin picking up your speed by lifting your knees higher. The goal is to sprint in place, but start out slowly and build your strength and stamina.

Rebounding is a fun exercise that makes many people feel as if they did not really workout. After all, we have been taught, “No pain – no gain” but that is not the principle behind rebounding.

Rebounding Strengthens your Bones

Have you heard of rebounding? Rebounding is exercise that takes place on a mini-trampoline. It is a type of exercise that works on the entire body at once. Rebounding improves circulation, helps more effective nutrient absorption, and assists the body in ridding itself of toxins. All this helps your body at the cellular level, where nutrients are converted to energy.

Because rebounding uses gravity, acceleration, and deceleration, it strengthens not only the cardiovascular system but also the bones and muscles. At the top of each bounce you experience a split second of weightlessness, and at the lowest point you descend to, your bones must bear your weight as you decelerate. Doctors have known for a long time that weight bearing exercises strengthen bones.

Jumping on a rebounder is a resistance exercise, keeping muscles strong as well as bones. On top of all this, rebounding burns up calories, helping you lose excess weight. It also happens to be a lot of fun to bounce up and experience that tiny moment of weightlessness with each bounce. It isn’t just post-menopausal women that must be concerned with bone thinning. Men can experience bone thinning as well, and regular, weight bearing exercise is one of the best ways that doctors know to keep bones dense and strong. Rebounding is a fun way to take care of bones, as well as the muscular structure supported by the skeleton.

Jump on Your Mini Trampoline for Stress Relief

Most people today have to deal with a lot of stress in their daily lives and attempting to find ways to alleviate the stress is often difficult. However, a mini trampoline is an excellent way to relieve daily stressors. Rebounding is enjoyable and truly takes the mind off whatever stress lies ahead. Secondly, it is easy to use, very safe, and cost effective. These points alone help lower one’s stress.

You know you need to exercise since it is proven to help reduce stress, but heading to the gym or purchasing bulky workout equipment is less than appealing. The mini trampoline is inexpensive and small, so it can fit in almost any room and you can use it for breaks during your day or in the evenings when watching television. It is a low-impact workout, so you do not have to worry about your joints taking any of the pressure.

The mini trampoline is fun for all ages, most adults the first time they use a trampoline giggle, but then they begin feeling good and the stress melts away quickly. The mini trampoline is a terrific way to get in a workout without it feeling like a workout, and a way to reduce daily stress easily.

Mini Trampoline Calories Burned

So how many calories does jumping on a mini trampoline burn anyway? The answer depends on how much you weigh. But to give you some idea of how much you can expect to burn we will use the example of a average weight man. A man who weighs 170lb will burn approximately 7.6 calories per minute while jumping on a rebounder. This may not seem like much until you compare it to the 5 calories per minute he would burn jogging. That’s a whopping 34% more calories burned per minute on jumping on a mini trampoline!

There are more factors to consider when choosing an exercise for weight loss than simply how many calories you burn. Arguably one of the most important factors is now much you enjoy it. By choosing an exercise such as rebounding, which most people instantly fall in love with, you are a lot more likely to spend more time doing it, which inevitably leads to more calories burned. Happy Rebounding!

Mini Trampoline Routine

I have had quite  a few people ask me about my personal daily mini trampoline routine. So I thought I would go ahead and post it. Remember everyone’s needs are different and this is just one example of how you can work rebounding into your daily schedule. Also this is my current routine and it has evolved quite a bit over the years and continues to evolve.

After trying many rebounders the one that I finally settled on for my own personal use is the needak soft bounce rebounder, I own the folding model but usually just leave it set up in the living room. In the morning I typically drink about a liter of water first thing and then do some light bouncing on the rebounder for about 10 minutes. I have found that the combination of the water and the light exercise is a great way to wake my body up and get everything moving. I have a rebounder at work and every couple of hours I take a break and rebound for about 5 to 10 minutes. I like to vary the actual exercise routine I do but my current favorites are running in place and the bounce twist.

If anyone would like to share their Mini trampoline Routine please don’t hesitate to post it as a comment on this blog entry.

Happy rebounding.

Mini Trampoline Safety

Here are a few safety tips that you can follow when using your mini trampoline.

1. Make sure that you set your mini trampoline up in an area with a good amount of vertical clearance so that you don’t bump your head while rebounding.  If you are using your rebounder in a room with a low ceiling, start out slow so you get a feel for how high you can safely jump.

2. Unlike full size trampolines, Mini trampolines are designed to be used by one person at a time. It can actually be quite dangerous for two people to attempt to use a rebounder simultaneously.  The extra weight can cause springs to break while in use or in some cases stitching to fail which could lead to someone falling off the rebounder and getting hurt.

3. Never attempt gymnastic maneuvers such as somersaults or back flips. If children will be using the rebounder it is especially important that you explain to them that these things are not allowed.

4. If you are older or have issues with balance place the rebounder near a wall so that you can reach out and stabilize yourself if need be.  Alternatively rebounders like the needak rebounder can be purchased with a stabilizing bar for support.

5. As with any new physical exercise always start out slow and pay attention to what your body is telling you.

Trampoline Jog

Trampoline Jog -  If you want to try  something that is a little more challenging then the first two in this series you might step things up with the trampoline job.  This is a  lot like the trampoline walk, except that you to alternate by lifting each foot a couple inches off of the ground.  This means that all of your weight is supported by a single leg as you take each step just like normal jogging. It is a good idea to wear shoes when jogging on a rebounder to help support your arches and prevent overpronating, especially if you are on a soft rebounder like the Bellicon Ultimate.

The trampoline jog is one of the primary exercise you will do on your rebounder and there are many variations to this basic exercise that can be done to add variety.

Mini Trampoline Walk

Today’s mini trampoline exercise is the “trampoline walk” which is another basic exercise that is great for those just getting started. Starting with these more basic exercise will help to develop your balance and make it easier for you to transition into the advanced routines.

Trampoline Walk – The trampoline walk is simply walking in place on the trampoline, without lifting the balls of your feet from the surface. It is much more effective calorie burner than walking in place on solid ground because the surface is unstable. You will really feel your legs working to keep balance. This actually burns a lot more calories, while at the same time working your calves and quadriceps.
